North Korea launches multiple ballistic missiles | News

North Korea fired several ballistic missiles toward the sea off the east coast on Sunday. This was announced by the South Korean army. It is said that eight projectiles were fired from an area near the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

The launches come a day after South Korea and the United States completed their first joint military exercises with a US aircraft carrier in more than four years. In addition, the US representative for North Korea affairs, Sung Kim, left Seoul on Saturday. He met fellow South Korean and Japanese Kim Jun and Takehiro Funakoshi on Friday to prepare for “any unexpected circumstances” as everything indicates that North Korea is preparing to conduct a nuclear test for the first time since 2017. The United States and South Korea have been warning about this for weeks.

During the visit, the US representative said that Washington had made it clear to Pyongyang that it was open to diplomacy. He said the United States is ready to discuss issues of concern to Pyongyang, such as easing sanctions.

At the end of May, the communist country also launched three ballistic missiles at short intervals toward the Sea of Japan. One of them is believed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). This was the 17th round of missile tests by North Korea this year. Tests conducted at the end of last month prompted the United States to impose new sanctions on the country.
