Google offers a handy download indicator for Android apps
Do you download the app regularly? Then you know how inconspicuous the installation process can be. You won’t see the app appear on your home screen until the download is complete – so you don’t know how long it will take to install. This is now changing. Google is rolling out a new download indicator for Android.
Once you download the app, it will immediately appear on your home screen. You cannot click the application yet. The app icon will appear gray during the installation process. The line around the app indicates how long it takes to download: the longer the line, the more progress the process will take.
Finally the download is complete. Then the font disappears and the app icon changes from light gray to its original colors. The new indicator is similar to the iOS download indicator. This looks a little different in design, but it works the same way.
Android just got more complex
Google is fixing more and more minor Android flaws. Although Android has been a smooth, fluid and intuitive operating system for years, the software is definitely not perfect. Small details like the app download indicator are welcome additions to Android improvement. With each new release of Google’s mobile operating system, the user experience is getting better.
