Spaargids.beA new phase will begin next Monday for clients of BNP Paribas Fortis and bpost Bank. They then become customers of a unified bank with a dual network. Those who wanted 'simple' banking would have the Post Office as their new 'head office'. Those with “more complex” financial needs will be able to go to BNP Paribas branches. In the first months after the plans were announced, the vast majority of customers appeared to agree with the option their bank offered them, according to reports. Spaargids.be.

January 22 is “Victory Day”
Currently, BNP Paribas Fortis and bpost Bank are two separate banks, each with its own product offerings. But this is changing. As of January 22, there will be only one institution: BNP Paribas Fortis. Bpost Bank will be merged into the parent bank by then. The bank's 1 million customers are making the switch. “That's why we looked at a unified offer for all our clients,” Michael Ancio, CEO of BNP Paribas Fortis, said last year.

The above decision resulted in two packages.

However, if they need more information on more complex matters such as mortgages, life insurance and professional products, they are welcome to make an appointment at the BNP Paribas Fortis office.
The most comprehensive package Easy guide It costs €5.5 per month and, in addition to the basic offer above, includes two credit cards and extensive financial advice. They can basically visit BNP Paribas Fortis offices for all their transactions by appointment.

Only 1 key pack out of every 100
Between the end of September and the beginning of December, 2.9 million customers received an offer for the basic or extended package. This offer was based on their current banking behavior. What package did they have? How they banked: fully digital, partially digital, face-to-face,… Did they ask for a lot of advice? Did they come to the office often?
Of this group, only 1.29 percent ultimately chose to change the package. The change was possible in 2023 until November 18. BNP Paribas Fortis clients have been able to change hands again since January 2; This will be the case for bpost bank customers from January 22. But it's too early to get a good idea about that, according to the (almost) unified bank.
In the lead up to Monday
All IT systems will be modified this weekend so that bpost bank customers can keep their account number, standing orders, direct debits etc. Therefore, a number of services will be temporarily unavailable, BNP Paribas Fortis recently warned.
