OnePlus Nord 2 5G offers many advanced features at an affordable price, but is this smartphone really that good? I read it in the review.
OnePlus announced the OnePlus Nord 2 last month, as the successor to the successful mid-range north. Right after the introduction, we’ve already published our first impression of OnePlus Nord 2. It should be a true flagship killer, with quality features at a reasonable price. The camera has been improved, as are the chipset and charging options. With a starting price of 400 euros, this device is much cheaper than today’s top models.
Claudia Rahanmeitan was able to test the new Nord region on a large scale Android World. In her review, she delves into the question of whether the OnePlus Nord 2 is really a major killer. Claudia is satisfied in any case with the design, she said: “The phone does not immediately stand out from the crowd, but it is very practical to use (even with one hand) and also feels excellent. The stereo speakers are also a very welcome addition.”
OnePlus Nord 2 5G reconsidering
The mobile has a modern look with narrow edges and a clean screen. OnePlus Nord 2 has a 6.43-inch Full HD + AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. A plastic frame has been chosen with a metallic coating, which gives the device an extra premium look.
A hole has been made in the upper left corner of the screen for a 32-megapixel selfie camera. This eliminates the double-hole camera. This also means that the aperture of the camera is noticeably smaller and because the resolution has been increased, this resolution is not at the expense of image quality much. So it is a good choice.
The triple camera on the back has also been modified, and the main camera is the same as the more expensive one OnePlus 9. It comes with a 50MP wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP monochrome camera. The camera system manages to capture beautiful, sharp photos – although of course the 2MP single camera doesn’t add much. On the other hand, the 50MP main camera with Sony image sensor and optical image stabilization is a very high quality camera.
Of course, creating videos is also an option. With Nord 2 5G, you can create 4K videos at 30 frames per second. You can also choose Full HD @ 60fps. Moreover, it is possible to record slow-motion videos and time-lapse videos. Finally, the Dual View function is also available, with which you can simultaneously create a video using the main camera and the front camera.
Apart from the beautiful screen and improved camera setup, the device also has a powerful processor. OnePlus has used the MediaTek chipset for the first time, and it’s the brand’s fastest alternative: the Dimensity 1200. The SoC has a built-in 5G modem, so you can also use fast 5G with a 5G network subscription.
Regarding performance, Claudia stated in her OnePlus Nord 2 review: “Daily performance is just as good as you would expect from a phone of this caliber. Simply put, the OnePlus Nord 2 navigates through lighter and heavier tasks as if it were nothing and always without a hitch. This applies to everyday tasks as well. playing games.”
Battery and charging options have also been improved. Nord 2 is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W Warp Charge fast charging. The battery is more than powerful enough to last all day. A day and a half will also work with average use.
Have you experienced an unexpectedly empty battery? Thanks to the included 65W charger, you can fully charge it in half an hour. The adapter is not the only thing OnePlus includes in the sales package, a transparent phone case is also included as standard. Easy to use, because in this way you can optimally protect your new smartphone. What more could you want for 400 euros?
As for the software, the mobile runs on the Android 11 operating system on which the OxygenOS 11.3 shell is placed. It offers a great user experience and plenty of customizable features – including dark mode and one-handed use. Always On Screen is also present. As for the update policy, OnePlus offers two years of Android OS updates and three years of security updates.
Whether the OnePlus Nord 2 5G really is a flagship killer, Claudia answers in her review: “The phone borrows the best aspects of the more expensive OnePlus 9 phones, such as the 50MP ultra-wide lens and Warp Charge 65, adds the powerful 1200 dimensions and the improved OxygenOS 11.3. Then all the This is in a package worth €399. I think this is a great achievement.”
If you are looking for a powerful smartphone with a large battery and a good camera, OnePlus Nord 2 is the right choice. Of course, there are also other alternatives available within this price range, such as the one that was recently introduced Samsung Galaxy A52s and Poco F3. Also two powerful smartphones at an affordable price.
