Radio 1 commentator Eddie Snelders, 64, was arrested last week on a charge of solicitation. A VRT and Play Sports employee has been pushed aside by his employers.
Colleague and close friend Peter Vandenemppt confirmed the news on Instagram. Despite the incidents committed by Snelders, Vandenembept bids farewell to his colleague in a striking manner: “0/11/2001 – 15/11/2023… Thank you for the unforgettable journey, my dear friend forever!”
Several people have already said in the comments that they think it’s a very nice gesture from Peter to say goodbye to Eddie in this way: “Nice gesture Peter. And the Eddie we know from football deserves this” and “I’ll miss Eddie’s shared comment. You were a lovely tandem.”
There are also a number of people scratching their heads over the Instagram message: “You should probably delete the critical comments, but I would like to point out that it’s strange to read such a supportive statement from someone who admitted to harassing someone else naked. Traps.”
