from pitch perfectIn an interview with the BBC, the actress told how her Hollywood cast thought it was a bad idea when she announced last year that she wanted a “year of health”. When Wilson told them she wanted to change her life, her team would reply, “But why would she do that?” That wasn’t surprising, she says, “because I made millions as the ‘funny fat girl’.”
Wilson confirmed in the interview that she did not feel insecure in her body or on the red carpet, even though she was “twice the size of the dress and three times the weight of some other actresses.” But she realized that her eating behavior was not healthy: “For example, I didn’t have to eat a whole jar of ice cream every night. It wasn’t me in those moments, it was a way to suppress my feelings with the help of food.”
Social media
She shared her “year of health” with her millions of followers on her social media, and she didn’t lose sight of the numerous comments about her weight. “Fantastic, isn’t it. Why are people so obsessed with women and their appearance? “I know what it feels like to be practically invisible as a woman because you’re not traditionally beautiful.” According to the actress, it’s “crazy” to try to meet those standards. “It’s better to be the healthiest version of yourself.”
Wilson has been very open to her followers in the past about her eating behavior, but also about other personal matters like fertility issues. You can’t share everything, especially on social media. But I try to share enough so that people can still understand some of my struggles. We hope to help people.”
