Positive things and also some frustration: That left Tadej Bojjar very strong after his first tour in Flanders.
Because he had fun, Tadej Pogačar for sure. “It was a great experience, a beautiful race. I rode up front with Van der Poel in an unbelievable atmosphere. Especially on Oude Kwaremont, a climb that I really like, I got goosebumps.”
Lots of other feelings at the end: Bogar kept driving for a while. “I wasn’t happy right after the race because I shut down and couldn’t run. I know this can happen in cycling: sometimes you have a clear path and other times you just don’t find the space. I wasn’t mad at anyone, I was frustrated with myself.”
Stunning arcade on KWAREMONT
The Slovenian can also be proud of himself: it was impressive how he kept going up! “The idea to attack Kwaremont came during reconnaissance. We noticed that the winds were favorable there. It is also one of the toughest and longest slopes. It was a good point in the track to give it all.”
After his last time in Kwaremont, Pogačar was still about to release Van der Poel. “I also did my best aboard the Batterberg, but I couldn’t get away from him. He was so strong. Will I go back to the Tour of Flanders? Simple answer: Yes.”
