The United States is sending 3,000 more troops to Poland to “pledge” NATO allies that Washington fears an immediate Russian invasion of Ukraine.
A senior Pentagon official said Friday. The Reuters news agency quoted four anonymous sources who shared the same information.
The Army is currently stationed in Fort Brock, North Carolina. They will leave their site ‘in the next few days’ and return to the site early next week.
The U.S. government had already announced the transfer of about 2,000 soldiers to Europe in early February. About 1,700 of them will also be detained in Ukraine’s neighbor Poland. The Pentagon says two-thirds have arrived.
