televisionPopular American talk show host Jon Stewart got noticeably emotional this week on “The Daily Show.” In front of the viewers, he paid tribute to his deceased dog, Dipper. It did not take long for the broadcaster to burst into tears, for no less than two minutes. “He was ready, but I wasn’t.”
Jon Stewart has been one of the most popular talk show hosts in America for years. The comedian, who usually talks about politics, this time talked about his dog Dipper. Stewart began by recalling that he first met the dog at a fundraiser for a large shelter in New York. That was about ten years ago.
Stewart became visibly emotional as he talked about how the shelter released Dipper. “A year-old pitbull was hit by a car in Brooklyn and lost his right leg,” Stewart said. That day, his family left the shelter with the dog and “felt good that we had helped this great organization (the shelter, ed.).”

Dipper then became a big name on the desk of “The Daily Show.” “In the world of good dogs, he was the best,” Stewart said of his loyal friend who worked with him every day. Dipper met all kinds of people: actors, writers, presidents, and even royalty. “We recorded the show and Dipper waited for me to finish.”
Another highlight of the three-legged character of Dipper: “He did what the Taliban couldn’t do, which terrified Malala Yousafzai.” Stewart referred to the previous attempt on Malala's life, in which the Taliban shot her in the head in Pakistan. Because she advocated girls' education. She survived, is still an activist and won the Nobel Peace Prize. Stewart showed a video of Malala meeting the pet and feeling a bit shocked.
Then it broke. “Dipper passed away yesterday. He was ready, he was tired. But not me.'' The animal died of old age. A tearful Stewart said his entire family was gathered when it happened. The host had a message for his audience: “I hope you one day find… “A dog like that. That's one dog. He's just the best.”
