Poscalis opens new offshore sea office in the United States

PROVIDENCE (US) / PAPENDRECHT / SLIEDRECHT – On Thursday, June 30, 2022, Boskalis opened a new office in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, to contribute to the fast growing seashore market on the east coast of the United States. The office serves as the Poscalis home base, from which several seawater project groups are supported.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of several companies operating in the coastal wind industry, including Waterson Terminals, Crowley and RI Building Trades, with whom Poscalis will work closely in the years to come. Papendrecht has its registered office in Sliedrecht, where it was launched. Many of the residents of Sliedrecht work in Boskalis.

Contracts
Poscalis has expanded its operations in the United States in recent years to serve the renewable energy market. This initially included several marine exploration campaigns for the first phase of coastal air development. Most recently, Boscalis has won several contracts for the transportation and installation of foundations, export cables and corrosion protection for upgrading coastal wind farms in the Northeastern United States. These include transportation to Ørsted-Eversource, laying of foundations, substations and erosion protection as part of the development of the South Fork, Revolution and Sunrise wind farms on the east coast of the United States.

Boscalis has been active in the United States since the early 1980s, initially through the Stoivasant Trading Company, and later through Tagwise USA and Danjon Smith. Poscalis, who specializes in maritime contracting, has been involved in a number of marine projects, including the repair of contaminated soil from the beds of several rivers and various rescue operations.
