Prime Minister Johnson reports that US President Joe Biden has told Western leaders that intelligence agencies expect Russia to invade Ukraine not only from the east – through the Donbass region – but also from Belarus and the area around Kiev.
“I am afraid to say that the plan that we are seeing is something that could really be the biggest war in Europe since 1945, just in terms of its scale,” the prime minister said. He added that people should think not only of the potential loss of Ukrainian lives, but also the loss of “young Russians”.
Speaking to the BBC after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Johnson told world leaders at a security conference in Munich that any Russian invasion of Ukraine would “resonate around the world”.
NATO also expects Russia to launch a large-scale attack on Ukraine. This is what General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with German public radio ARD† According to him, the risk of being attacked is “very, very high.” Earlier, US President Biden said that Russian President Putin had decided to attack Ukraine.
