Other road users, pedestrians and two New York Police Department vehicles were involved. Police said the two were allegedly chased by paparazzi. Two officers involved tell Sky News the pursuit was “disturbing” but certainly not life-threatening.

Award show

Harry and Meghan were accompanied by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. They attended the award ceremony at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York. At the event, Meghan accepted the Woman of Vision Award.

New York Mayor Eric Adams called the initiative reckless and irresponsible. “Obviously the press, the paparazzi, want to get the perfect shot,” Adams said. “But public safety must always come first.”

Harry has spoken out several times in the past about his poor relationship with the media. Her mother, Diana, died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 while being chased by the paparazzi.

Mayor Adams also cited Diana’s death. “I think everyone remembers how their mother died, and it would be terrible to lose an innocent bystander or something to happen to a couple.” The mayor insisted that it was “impossible” that the chase lasted two hours, as a ten-minute chase would be too much in a busy city like New York.
