Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the United States that if Washington deploys long-range missiles in Germany or elsewhere in Europe, Russia will deploy similar missiles within striking range of the West. Reuters news agency reported this.
Earlier this month, the US said it would deploy long-range missiles in Germany from 2026. It is about Tomohawk cruise missiles and hypersonic development weapons.

Putin has warned The move risks unleashing a missile crisis similar to the one the US had during the Cold War. The Russian President said this during the Russian Navy Day held in St. Petersburg. Naval personnel from Russia, China, India and Algeria participated.
Putin also threatens that Russia will resume production of some nuclear missiles if the US halts missiles in Europe. “The flight time of such missiles, which may be equipped with nuclear weapons in the future, will take about ten minutes to reach targets on our borders,” the Russian president said during the speech.
The Russian president adds that the situation is reminiscent of the US deployment of medium-range Pershing missiles in Europe during the Cold War. The Pershing II, designed to provide a variable warhead, was delivered to West Germany in 1983.
According to Putin, Russia will “take into account the actions of the United States and its satellites in Europe and other parts of the world.” The Russian president said Russia is still voluntarily adhering to the Intermediate-Range Missile Treaty. “But if the United States implements its plan, we will consider it free from the previously accepted unilateral sanctions,” Putin said.
