Before Elizabeth began her letter from Windsor Castle, photos and videos of Philip were shown. In other words, the Queen said she “supported her and rock”. ‘While it is a time of joy for many, it can also be a difficult time for some who have lost loved ones. I understand that very well this year,’ said the Queen, who was remarkably personal to her.
In the months since the prince’s death, the royal family has been very supportive of all the honors. Elizabeth said it helped that Philip was loved around the world, and she went on to list the reasons why. “That mischievous glint in his eye was still the same when I finally saw him.”

Philip will be sorely missed at the Christmas table this year. “As much as my family and I miss him, I know he would like us to enjoy Christmas.” Elizabeth sees a lot to enjoy and for others. “Sing Christmas carols (if the right tone is maintained), give and receive gifts, or watch our favorite movie we already know the end of. These are Christmas traditions that families value very much.”
The Queen expects that, despite everything, she will have a merry Christmas. “For me and my family – even if we lose a familiar smile this year – there will be joy this Christmas because we will have a chance to reminisce and see the marvels of the holiday season through the eyes of our little ones.”
