celebritiesOn September 5, late Queen singer Freddie Mercury would have turned 77 years old. The band’s guitarist, Brian May, 76, couldn’t let this go unnoticed. He shared a cute tribute on Instagram. “I’m definitely thinking about Freddie a lot these days.”
Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991 at the age of 45 from complications of AIDS, would have turned 77 on September 5. “I’m definitely thinking about Freddie a lot these days,” Brian began in his Instagram post. “When this photo was taken, I think it wouldn’t have been hard to see Freddie’s fingers dancing on a homemade guitar.” Now it calls for waves of affection and wonderful memories. “We miss him terribly.”
From today, September 6 to September 13, many of Freddie’s special items will also be auctioned at Sotheby’s in London. Fans can admire the items there until September 5. “Tomorrow, as I chat passionately to Welsh farmers about cows, badgers and bovine tuberculosis, Freddie’s personal possessions and his most intimate writings – part of what we shared for many years – will be auctioned off. To be given to the highest bidder. Scattered forever. I dare not Considering…it is very sad for us, our best friends and family.”
A portion of the auction proceeds will go to Mary Austin, Mercury’s former best friend and initiator of the auction. In addition, a portion of the amount will be allocated to charities The Mercury Phoenix Trust and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
