But the rest of the ‘Wil’ squad is impressive too: Dirk Roofthoft, Kevin Jansens, Coen de Beau, Jean Piguet, Els Dautermans, Jean Declair, Frida Bitwers, Frank Vercruisen, Ariane van Vliet, Tyne van den Wingert, Sophie Declair, playing both. Valentijn Dhaenens, Felix Meyer and Marc Lauwrys together. Pierre Bochma and Karina Smulders of the Netherlands will be present. Moreover, Germans Dimitri Schaad and Pete Bukowski and Poland’s Simon Wrobloski also play an important role.
Wil is the second film from director Tim Milentis, after De Patrick. He previously directed the international series “Peaky Blinders” and “Legion”. “Wil examines whether you can be a good person in times of war if you do what you have to do to survive, or if you have to be lucky to be on the right side of history,” Tim Mielants says of the film. The original book has since been translated into eight languages, won numerous literary awards, and is even classified by The Times as historical fiction at its best.
Recordings will take place in Belgium and Poland and will run until mid-July. Wil will be released in theaters in the fall of 2023 and then shown worldwide on Netflix.
