The England-Belgium match was the last game of the Red Lions in this third edition of the Pro League. Our guys had to beat England and count on a slip from Holland against India for a chance at first.
The first thing they did enthusiastically. Belgium quietly dominated the first half and scored once. England converted a penalty from Hendrickx, but was unable to clear the ball. Against a flick from De Kerpel, the English goalkeeper had no chance.
England created little. Belgium goalkeeper Vanach had nothing to do. Even Vanach had to save two crucial goals in the last leg of the second quarter.
After the break, Belgium suffered a bit from the flow of the match with a 0-2 draw. Hendrickx hit a powerful penalty kick on the post, De Sloover found the goal in the rebounding net.
England’s resistance was broken, Belgium seemed liberated and the score increased even more. With two penalties from Hendrix in the same number of minutes, the score moved to 0-3 and 0-4. At that time, the English replaced their goalkeeper with an additional field player. In the end the score was still 0-5, with a second goal by De Kerpel.
Despite this impressive result, Belgium must be satisfied with the second place in the final standings of the Pro League. The Netherlands beat India at home 2-1 and is the final winner. Orange comes after Belgium in the honor list.
