It seemed like a no-brainer for the men in the classification, but the top 10 looks different after Primoz Roglic fell in the deep final of stage 12. So Remco Evenepoel is making a stronger choice for a possible podium spot. “But you don’t want your direct opponent to face something like that,” he replied.
Primoz Roglic crashed 12km from the finish. It had already happened yesterday, but the Slovenian saved him with the 3km rule.
“Today there was no safety net and Roglic lost 2’27”. He is now only sixth in the standings. “My feeling? Double, right,” replied No. 3 and rival Remco Evenepoel, who had just heard the news at the podium ceremony.
“It’s better not to see anyone fall, especially someone who is competing for the podium. I hope Primoz recovers well and can continue.”
“You never want to experience something like that yourself and you don’t want your direct opponent to experience it either. That’s why ranked guys are always competing for the top spots.”
“Something can always happen. Luckily, I was in the front row for the last 30 kilometres.”
