Capcom Reports That Resident Evil 4 remake is selling like hotcakes. The counter now stands at 6.48 million copies sold. This is the total through December 31, 2023. We are now several weeks away and the total is now likely to be higher than 6.5 million.
Resident Evil 4 Remake was released in April 2023. In eight months, no less than 6.48 million copies were sold. This means that Resident Evil 4 Remake sells faster than Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, and Resident Evil Village. The launch of Resident Evil 4 Remake on iOS and the PlayStation VR 2 update will likely boost sales numbers.
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will be released next week
Capcom will release Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition on February 9, 2024 at standard price. This includes the main game, the Separate Ways expansion, and an “additional DLC pack” that we don't know much about. The Gold Edition also includes Mercenaries mode, and if you purchase this version on a PlayStation 5 console, you can also play the full game in virtual reality using a PlayStation VR 2 headset.
Resident Evil remains publisher Capcom's most successful franchise. It will succeed the horror series Monster Hunter, which will get a new game in 2025, and Street Fighter, which got a big new game last year.
Capcom has already indicated that it wants to produce more Resident Evil remakes. The question now is which classic movie will get a complete remake in the near future. Fans are demanding a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica, but Capcom hints at the possibility of remaking Resident Evil 5 in separate DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake. That would be interesting, because Resident Evil 5 was a cooperative game.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, iOS, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series VR 2. The Resident Evil 4 Remake free demo is playable on all platforms. Want to know more about the game? Then read our comprehensive review here.
