It’s hard to see how a slightly tense 70-minute match could turn into a 20-minute roller coaster game. For more than an hour, Ghent dominated everything and the vast majority of opportunities.
It helped that Depuetry did manage to make it 1-0 after twelve minutes. Zolt Warghem could only threaten in the first half with two headers from Jelli Vossen.
With some quick combinations and plenty of depth, Gent created enough chances to lead 5-0 in the 70th minute, but Hjulsager hit the post and Depoitre and Malede, among others, missed some good chances.
What he did not succeed with Vossen by the head, he succeeded with the foot in the second half. At first he hit the post, but after two minutes he scored the equalizer. Gent had to increase the pressure again, but the ticking of the clock caused nervousness and haste.
If Sisako had lost to Vossen, the score would have been 1-2, but the substitute from Zolt Wargem went on to find his own success and hit the crossbar. A penny can fall to any side.
In the end it was the last attack of the evening that liberated Ghent. Ogja kicked goalkeeper Bosut, but Bezos scored on the counter.
