The army said that four flying objects were shot down over the Belgorod region in southwestern Russia, and another object in the Rostov region in southern Russia. Both regions are located on the border with Ukraine. Two others were shot from the sky over the Volgograd region. There are no reports of possible damage.
Ukraine, for its part, says it attacks at night with fourteen drones and two missiles. As happened the night before, the attacks mainly targeted energy infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk industrial region.
According to preliminary information, the Russian attacks were “successful.” The military says nine drones were shot down, but military governor Serhej Lisak also reported two fires. “Nearly 15,000 people are without electricity,” he wrote on social media. Two thermal power plants in the city of Kryvyi Rih serve 43,000 people. Trams in the big city were partly out of service. Many families are said to be suffering from water outages, he wrote on social media.
Since the war against Ukraine, Russia has also regularly bombed remote areas with drones and missiles. Energy infrastructure is often targeted. The goal is to put the Ukrainians in the cold and darkness during the winter in order to break their resistance.
