to updateThe Russian military is said to have begun converting old Soviet tanks into remote-controlled bombs. The images, which cannot be independently verified, will show how a tank loaded with explosives would drive autonomously towards Ukrainian soldiers before a mine and a missile detonated the machine. In the Telegram chat application, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the military managed to destroy a Ukrainian stronghold with a kamikaze tank. There is talk of “3.5 tons of TNT and five FAB-100 bombs,” writes CNN. According to the American news channel, such bombs usually carry 100 kilograms of explosives each.
“300 meters from the enemy, the tank driver put on autopilot. He jumped. I stayed behind to observe and saw the vehicle moving toward the enemy position and blew it up with a remote control.”
The exact location of the accident has not yet been determined, and the Ukrainian authorities have not yet responded to it.
The video at the top of this article is said to have been filmed in Donetsk, according to Russian propaganda channel Romanov_92. This claims that Putin’s forces filled the tank with six tons of TNT. The idea was to send him on autopilot to the Ukrainian forces.
This didn’t seem to work. A hundred meters from the front line, it seems that an old T-54 or T-55 tank is driving over a land mine. This creates a large cloud of smoke. This is followed by an anti-tank missile from Ukraine, which results in a massive explosion.
