Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky said that an agreement between Ukraine and Russia was not in sight yet. Medinsky said negotiations had not made enough progress to hold a face-to-face meeting between Ukrainian President Zelensky and his Russian counterpart Putin. Ukraine’s negotiator David Arachhamiya said earlier in the day that sufficient progress had been made. According to Medinsky, the Ukrainian delegation “is now becoming more realistic.”
According to David Arashamja, the draft documents of the peace treaty between the two countries are already at an advanced stage. She added that this made a meeting between the two presidents – “with a high probability in Turkey” – possible.
Medinsky said negotiations will continue digitally on Monday. Russian news agency RIA Novosti On Saturday, I said that Russia wants to continue negotiations in Belarus, but Ukraine does not. “For some reason, this is inconvenient for them, or there is another reason,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview on Belarusian television. He said that talks with Ukraine were not easy. “But the most important thing is that they keep working.”
