The emergency department at Saint Trudeau Hospital is being completely renovated. Works will begin at the end of next year.
The hospital had become too small for patients needing emergency care. says Cindy Monard, General Manager. “Both the waiting area and the care area are very small and provide little privacy.” In the new department there will be a separation of different patient flows. This is being done with a potential future pandemic in mind. A more seamless integration with the general emergency center will also be implemented.
parking
The new emergency department will be located at the rear of the existing visitor parking lot. “That is why the hospital looked for a new parking option for its patients and visitors and found it to the left of the hospital, on the Rummenweg campus,” said Koen de Koninck, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. There will be additional parking spaces on the Rummenweg campus and additional parking spaces for the disabled will be provided on the left side of the hospital. There will also remain a few parking spaces at the new emergency service for people who come in person.
Just to another place
During the work, emergency services will temporarily move to another location within the hospital. The new emergency service is supposed to be ready for use in 2026.
