Samsung Galaxy Book4 360 review: A luxury laptop for everyday use

With Book4 360, Samsung once again shows that it is not inferior to its biggest competitor, Apple.

With the Galaxy Book4 series, Samsung is launching a fourth line of laptops. The hardware nomenclature is clear: there's a basic line, a better Pro line, and a better Ultra line. We started working with the Galaxy Book4 360, a version whose screen can be fully rotated. Our machine is powered by Intel's Core 7 150U processor, which also offers Arc graphics. This should deter anyone looking for a gaming laptop. Are you looking for a luxurious, slim laptop for your office or school work? Then you have come to the right place with the Book4 series.

What Samsung has managed to achieve with this Book4 series is impressive to say the least. From the outside, the devices look unusually elegant in Moonstone Gray aluminum. Anyone who wants a different color is out of luck: Samsung only offers its laptops in one color, but that's okay. Even when opened, the Book4 doesn't reveal much of an identity: the device has a sleek, dry build, which we can appreciate. What helps is that the keyboard leaves enough room for the number pad and function rows, without taking up too much space from the touchpad. The result is a device that looks smart, clear and uncluttered. It's safe to say: the Galaxy Book4 360 is a laptop in a tailored suit. The only thing really missing is some rubber around the keyboard. This is useful to protect the housing from scratches when the screen is flipped over.

You can look and touch too

Once you turn the device on, it becomes clear that Book4 360 wears a custom-made suit every day. The default desktop wallpapers that Windows sets don't actually do justice to the beautiful AMOLED display. As soon as you start watching some Netflix or Prime, you notice that your movie or series completely comes off the screen. There are many higher resolution displays, but the colors on a 1080p display are really good here. With a 16:9 aspect ratio, the Book4 360 is an excellent laptop for office work or Netflix. If you want more, you should take a look at the more expensive Pro version of this device. This offers a 3K display with an aspect ratio of 16:10. The powerful viewing experience is enhanced by the two premium speakers. Since the speakers have Dolby Atmos tuning, they succeed in creating a reliable soundscape. The speaker system won't replace the Book4 easily, but performance is good for a laptop.

15.6 inch touch sensitive screen. This is useful for those who sometimes want to turn the laptop upside down or use it as a tablet. Settings like this are great if you want to enjoy your series more powerfully, but they add little when it comes to throughput. Typing on a keyboard is easier than typing on a screen. And it's easier to write. The Book4 360 comes with a Samsung Galaxy S Pen that allows you to tickle and scribble on your laptop. This works well for taking handwritten notes during lessons or meetings. It works less well when searching for things, although this is probably due to the fact that Windows can't decipher the feet of our penis. The pin clicks neatly into place on the bottom of the laptop. It's nice to take with you and charge it, but it's not very useful if you're actively using the device.

Samsung ecosystem

So the Book4 360 is a very impressive device. And this is allowed: Samsung competes with Apple's MacBooks with these laptops. For years Apple has been said to be the master and master of the ecosystem. Everything from Apple works well together, which has never been the case with Windows and Android – until now. With Book4, Samsung once again shows that it understands how to set up the ecosystem. Your Samsung earbuds connect to your laptop easily, which you can adjust using the Samsung Settings app.

Integration with other Samsung products goes beyond just earbuds. Anyone with a Samsung tablet at home can instantly use it as a second screen. The brand offers a useful Second Screen app for this purpose, which helps you set everything up. With Quick Share, you can easily transfer files between your laptop and your Android mobile phone, whether it is a Galaxy phone or not. It's unfortunate that Samsung focuses so much on the ecosystem, but still allows users to purchase an S Pen with the laptop. Anyone who has a recent Galaxy S tablet at home already has such a stylus. The option to do without this pen with the Book4 (and thus reduce costs) would certainly be welcome.

performance

There is nothing to complain about the performance of the laptop. Intel Core 7 150U RAM and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM provide the laptop with increased computing power. This is the case with everyday use such as Internet browsing and office or school work. At no point do you notice that your laptop is suffering, because that is not the case. Samsung has managed to continue the Book4's luxurious experience in everyday use: the laptop can easily handle what most users expect, as long as it doesn't involve gaming. Fortnite will still work, just like other less graphically intensive games. However, it's better to get something else for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 or Alan Wake 2: this device is simply not suitable for that. With a 512GB SSD, you'll have to go out of your way to install some of the more serious games on your laptop.

Don't you care much about games? Then you can without hesitation get a laptop with a lower quality CPU: the Core 5 120U is more than suitable for use in the home, garden and kitchen. Do you always want to use the latest applications and do you work a lot with artificial intelligence? Then it might be worth getting the model with the Core Ultra 7 150U processor. This chip has a so-called “NPU” that performs AI tasks more efficiently and a little faster than the 150U in our devices. How long your battery lasts depends largely on the CPU. You can expect about twenty hours of use from the 68Wh battery. In short: more than enough to take your laptop with you all day. The charger is also no larger than most smartphones, making it easy to take with you everywhere.

The laptop is also equipped with an HDMI port and two Thunderbolt 4 ports, as befits an Intel laptop. Samsung also provided a MicroSD reader and a USB 3.2 Type A slot. If your Samsung earbuds haven't been working for a while, you can also use the 3.5mm combo jack to connect headphones. You can make video calls using the built-in 1080p webcam and built-in microphones. However, you can also use your Galaxy smartphone's camera to enhance the quality of your video call.

Conclusion

Manufacturers want to showcase the latest advances, such as the new Core Ultra chips in their laptops. This is also the case with Samsung, although you have to get the more expensive version of the Book4 360 before you can take advantage of it. However, we can't blame them too much: AI functionality like Copilot's isn't here yet. Also, the mid-range model with a 150U processor is more than enough for daily tasks. This makes this premium laptop a joy to work on. The laptop also weighs only 1.46 kg, so you can easily take it with you anywhere with the charger.

In short: The Galaxy Book4 360 is more than just a fun laptop to work on. The AMOLED display of this device also ensures that you can fully enjoy movies and series, with 'Dolby Atmos' sound. The overall package is definitely there, and it only gets better if you still have Galaxy devices at home. This allows Samsung to clearly differentiate its laptops from other Windows devices. That in itself makes it worth considering the Book4 360 – it doesn't look like a bad option to us.
