Samsung’s new Flip 5 breaks pre-order records
The new Galaxy Z Flip 5 proves that foldable phones are hotter than ever. It is still questionable if they will stay in fashion for more than ten years, but at least the first numbers look good. In South Korea alone, home Samsung More than 1 million pre-orders have been placed for the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Samsung. Not much is known about the numbers for the rest of the world, though Samsung has indicated that Flip 5 devices account for at least 20% of global smartphone sales.
Earnings are not only in pre-orders
Overall, Samsung’s new Flip 5 accounts for 70% of all orders the company receives. That’s a 60% increase compared to the Flip 4. And those are just the numbers. Flip has always been a popular device for Samsung, but its popularity is growing very quickly. Whether it will soon outpace traditional phones, we’ll leave that in the middle. We left a crystal ball at home. Anyway, there is clearly life in the mobile phone market again. We see that other manufacturers are also entering the mobile phone market again: Google Fold, Motorola Razr Plus and Oppo Find N2 are all competing with each other.
