Samsung today launched a 4TB version of the ultra-fast 990 PRO, a powerful PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD that was previously available in 1TB and 2TB capacities. The new SSD adds more storage space to the speed and power efficiency of its predecessors, and is optimized for graphically demanding games and other intensive tasks like 3D rendering, 4K video editing, and data analysis. An improved Total Bytes Written (TBW) rating of up to 2400TB provides greater reliability and longer life, ideal for heavy tasks and large capacity needs.

Powered by Samsung’s 8th generation V-NAND (V8) and a new ultra-fast controller, the 990 PRO delivers the highest random read speed currently available over the PCIe 4.0 interface.[1]with sequential read and write speeds of up to 7450 and 6900 megabytes per second (MB/s), respectively, and random read and write speeds of up to 1600K and 1550K IOPS, respectively.[2]. This makes the 990 PRO ideal for intense gaming and demanding tasks like video editing, music production, or data analysis. The 4TB version provides room for this superior performance, so you don’t have to worry about the disk getting full.

This eliminates the issues that double-sided M.2 SSDs can cause when installed in ultra-thin laptops, such as space constraints and the risk of damaging other components.

Samsung Magician ensures optimal SSD performance by updating firmware, drivers, and other settings.
