Pictures show Ben, wearing sunglasses, sitting in the front row at a press conference of Ukrainian government officials. Vice Studios confirms to Variety that it is indeed about the filmmaker. The studio is co-producing the film with Vice World News and Endeavor Content.

Benn visited the president’s office this week and spoke with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk. He attended a press conference at the presidential office in Kiev on Thursday. “Sean Penn shows the courage that many others lack, especially Western politicians,” the president’s office wrote on Facebook. “The director came to Kiev specifically to capture all the events that are currently taking place in Ukraine and tell the world the truth about the Russian invasion of our country.”

The Academy Award winner has supported numerous international humanitarian and anti-war efforts over the years and founded the non-profit disaster relief organization CORE in response to the earthquakes in Haiti in 2010.
