A security guard protecting a camera crew who was covering a series of recent robberies in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, has been killed by a thief. The man tried to steal the TV crew’s equipment.
Kevin Nishita has been hired to protect television journalists in the area, who are often targeted by thieves because of their expensive equipment. A security guard was shot in the stomach Wednesday while trying to steal KRON TV equipment near downtown Auckland, police said.
The news crew just reported to a series of recent robberies in the San Francisco Bay Area, where large groups of thieves rob expensive shops. A $32,500 reward was offered for information leading to the killer’s arrest.
“This senseless loss of life is once again a violent crime in the Bay Area. We hope that a reward offer will lead to the arrest of those responsible and justice for this terrible tragedy,” said Jim Rose, the station’s general manager.
criminal networks
The area witnessed organized robberies from stores, during which gangs of thieves, some of them with hammers and hammers, stormed luxury stores and stole goods. Similar thefts have been reported in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and elsewhere in the country.
The thefts are said to be part of complex criminal networks that recruit people to steal goods from stores across the country and then sell them online. Experts say thefts are on the rise as the Christmas shopping season begins.
