In a street race in a neighborhood north of Bordeaux, a 32-year-old driver drove his car into a crowd on Friday night. Seven people were injured, two of them seriously, according to firefighters and police.

At about 11 pm, the driver lost control of the steering wheel in a high-speed curve. Police in the French city said the car left the road and crashed into spectators on the sidewalk. Seven people were injured. Two people were seriously injured in the “legs and pelvis”, but no one was in danger.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene of the accident and remains in custody. Three other people were in his car.
