Slipknot Announces Keyboardist’s Departure (And Percussionist Also Misses European Tour) | music

musicBad news for Slipknot fans. The American metal band – after 27 years – announced farewell to their keyboardist Craig Jones (51) on Instagram. In addition, it became known that percussionist, Sean “Clown” Crahan (53), would also miss the upcoming European tour. This is to be able to take care of his sick wife.

Belgian Slipknot fans will see a very different band line-up than they’re used to at the Graspop Metal Meeting on Saturday, June 17th. On Instagram, the Metal group announced the departure of their keyboardist, Craig Jones, aka ‘the band member with the spiky face mask’. And this is after 27 years. “To our fans, Slipknot announces that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish him all the best for the future.” However, the reason for the departure has not been revealed and Jones himself has yet to respond to the news. The same message has since been taken offline.

Soon the post had to give way to an entirely new message, an image of a dark mask. Fans think this mysterious person might be a new member of the band – or a new character.

Aside from Jones’ unexpected departure, fans won’t see (or hear) percussionist Shawn ‘the Clown’ Crahan in action on the festival grounds in Dessel. He skips the European tour to take care of his wife. He himself posted on Instagram. “I want to take a moment to let everyone know that I have come home to support my wife who has health issues. I will be back on the road as soon as possible.” He continued, “We have been through this before and as always we appreciate the love and support. See you all soon!”
