Only one table remained at the Crucible Theater from the semi-finals onwards, but both players seemed unimpressed by the circumstances of the new match at the Snooker Temple.
Si Jiahui certainly impressed with his complex game, although the Chinese still had to leave the first frame of the day to Luca Brecel. Our compatriot’s luck was on his side with Luck: he missed the pink one, but it still rolled into another pocket.
Jiahui didn’t let it get to his heart and replied with a massive snooker. The Chinese hit the balls superbly and pocketed them with incredible accuracy. Brecel’s mistakes were mercilessly punished and Jiahui scored more than 100 points 4 frames in a row, including with 2 centuries.
At 4-1, things seemed to be going the wrong way for Pressel, who – somewhat against his nature – worked his way back into the game by playing tactically. Jiahui was also no longer behaving so flawlessly and so Brecel got to his feet.
The Belgian even had the opportunity to finish the day 4-4, but in the exciting eighth match he lost the pink that gave him the frame. Si Jiahui loosened the gift and starts the second session on Friday, two tyres.
