As a platform owner, Sony is one of the biggest players in the gaming industry and that also means they have a lot of revenue streams. From a Newzoo poll shared by VentureBeatit turns out that they are in second place in terms of turnover.
Sony, for example, had a total turnover of 18.2 billion in fiscal year 2022, which puts it in second place. Tencent took the first place, having managed to achieve a turnover of at least 32.2 billion. Apple is in third place with $15.3 billion.
It’s interesting to see that most of the companies in the top ten had more turnover than in fiscal 2021, but Sony is one of the parties that saw a decline. In addition, the big question is of course what Microsoft and Nintendo do.
Microsoft is also not bad, it is in the fourth place with a sales volume of 12.9 billion and Nintendo does not exceed the eighth place with 8.1 billion. However, this is the last fiscal year, but that could change dramatically next year.
Activision Blizzard is still listed separately with a turnover of 8.1 billion, but this company is currently being acquired by Microsoft. So there’s a very good chance that Microsoft will jump to second place in the current or next fiscal year.
