The three presidents of the Federation held a press conference this afternoon at the headquarters of the European Football Association (UEFA) in the Swiss city of Nyon. “Our project aims to be a source of inspiration for society through football. We send a message of solidarity and hope,” the RFEF said in a press release.

The Spanish statement indicated that the integration of Ukraine “had the support of UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.”

“The insistence and resistance of the Ukrainian people are a source of inspiration,” the Portuguese Federation said in its press statement.

The FPF said that what everything would look like concretely has not yet been determined: “The terms of Ukraine’s association with this nomination will be discussed and determined in due course.”

“The institutional headquarters are in Madrid, the administrative headquarters are in Lisbon. The Ukrainian delegation will now join us.”

“Today is about the announcement of this joint European candidacy. We will spend the next months working on the field. At the moment, we are pleased with this news,” concluded Luis Rubiales, president of the Federation.

This year’s World Cup will be held in Qatar, and four years later the United States, Canada and Mexico will be the host countries.

A South American consortium, consisting of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile, has also previously expressed interest in organizing the 2030 FIFA World Cup, 100 years after the first edition in Uruguay.

There is also interest in Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Saudi Arabia will try to seduce Egypt and Greece with the support of the European, Asian and African Union.
