The images are distributed to persuade black voters to vote for Trump. Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, said the AI-generated images appear to be part of “disinformation tactics” targeting the Black community that were also used in the 2020 election.
One of the photos, obtained by the BBC, shows Donald Trump smiling. The former president is surrounded by a group of black women. Whoever analyzes the picture will see that some people are missing their fingers. This is the case for images generated by artificial intelligence.
The BBC says the photos appear to have been taken by Trump supporters themselves. There is no evidence that the photos are linked to the Trump campaign. Although the presidential candidate and his campaign team are focusing on the black voter. For example, Make America Great Again, the main political action committee supporting Trump, is launching an ad campaign this week targeting black voters in Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
AI also caused problems earlier in the primaries, however, with bot calls that used AI to imitate Joe Biden's voice to persuade voters.
