French police arrested a 51-year-old suspect last night in connection with the discovery of a decapitated woman in the coastal town of Agde. This was learned from the prosecutor’s office in Béziers. According to French media, it was a handyman who worked in the woman’s house. He is currently being questioned by the police.
“It concerns a 51-year-old man who knew the victim,” said Prosecutor Rafael Baland. The man was arrested. According to the Public Prosecutor, there are elements indicating the existence of premeditation.
France Info reported yesterday evening that the suspect regularly performed odd jobs for the victim. BFMTV reported that the suspect stole a bank card from the woman and withdrew 1,000 euros.
Officers visited the woman’s home around 10 p.m. on Wednesday after her son called the police because he hadn’t heard from her. They usually call every day. The son also had access to video footage inside the house and said he was worried because he saw a shadow on the floor.
A police source said the woman’s head was on a table next to the body. There will be no signs of burglary. The house gate closed, and the front door opened.
