‘t Vitamientje is part of a larger group

‘t Vitamientje, the famous fruit and vegetable retail and wholesale company of the Bollen family, now belongs to the Euro Gijbels group.

‘t Vitamientje is a close-knit family business with the second generation now rolling up its sleeves. Mama Irene Joris started a small fruit shop on Havermarket in Hasselt in 1982, with the help of her husband Maurice Poulin, who worked as purchasing manager. After studying as a commercial engineer, their son Hendrik Boleyn focused on expanding the wholesale trade, while daughter Anne Boleyn was put in charge of the stores. In this build, the company has grown into an established name in Limburg, with more than 40 employees.

Last March, the sale of ‘t Vitamientje to fellow sector member Euro Gijbels was formalized. The acquiring company, headquartered in Geel, is also a very famous family business, founded in 1949. Meanwhile, John and Jolene are the fourth generation at the helm of the international group. More than 100 million tons of fruits and vegetables are grown annually (including our production facilities in Spain) and distributed (from generation to generation).

The objective of the acquisition is to leverage the synergistic benefits of further growth for both companies.
