The USA crushed the Serbian basketball dream in the finals and advanced to the finals
After a thrilling semifinal, the United States defeated Serbia 95-91 to advance to the basketball finals at the Olympics.
The NBA star-studded team took an early lead and went into halftime with an eleven-point lead: 43-54. Team USA, which had won gold in the previous four tournaments, defended brilliantly and Serbia took advantage.
America had to regroup, but the deficit grew to thirteen points after the third quarter.
However, in the last part of the match, the Americans completely changed the course. The Serbs could suddenly see how LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant were getting closer.
With less than four minutes to play, the star team was finally leveled by James: 84-84. Then the high-scoring Curry (36 points) made a three-pointer, after which the United States took the lead for the first time after 15-13: 87-86.
The Serbs, who had to recognize their superiority among NBA stars, were nerve-racking. In the end, the Americans won 95-91.
France
In the final, the United States will face France, who beat Germany 73-69 in the semifinals.
The battle for the gold medal is Saturday, 9:30 p.m. The United States could win Olympic gold there for the seventeenth time.
