Andrew Wilhoid, 40, was arrested in March for the murder of his wife, Elizabeth “Nicky” Wilhoid. The woman had beaten cancer, but finally found out a day after chemo treatment that her husband had cheated on her. According to local police, Wilhoid killed his wife in the argument following a blow to the head with a flowerpot. He then threw his body into a stream several miles from home.
The man has been remanded in custody pending his trial on suspicion of murder. However, Republican voters in Lebanon did not rule out electing Wilhood in the municipal primary on Tuesday, receiving 60 of the 276 votes cast.
Wilhouth’s trial is set to begin on August 29. If convicted in the Nov. 8 general election, he will be automatically removed from the ballot as a Republican candidate. If he is not convicted before that date, he cannot be legally removed from the voter list.
