Boston did not miss his start in the NBA Finals. The Celtics won the first final at home by clear numbers: 107-89. Kristaps Porzingis was immediately important to Boston in his return, as was Jaylen Brown. Luka Doncic, the Dallas star, hasn’t hung his head yet. “We are immediately focused on the next match.”
“It was confirmation to myself that I was in pretty good shape,” Porzingis said after returning to the NBA Finals. The Latvian was out for more than a month with a calf injury, but was immediately good and scored 20 points against the Mavericks.
He certainly wasn’t the home team’s only star. Six players finished in double figures. Jaylen Brown scored 22 points, and Jayson Tatum added 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
It became a dominant win for Boston: 107-89. A clear statement at the beginning of the final match.
But they haven’t panicked yet in Dallas. Luka Doncic, who tried to lead his team with 30 points, had a cold reaction after the match. “It’s the best match out of 7 matches. We immediately focus on the next match.”
