Earlier this year, IO Interactive, which we know from Hitman, announced that it was developing an entirely new franchise. Not much was involved at the time, but it was clearly an ambitious project.
Now, thanks to the case of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, some additional information has come out thanks to documents Microsoft had to release.
This document lists IO Interactive as one of the companies that Microsoft may have wanted to acquire. The expected game releases from the studio not only mention Project 007, the already announced James Bond game, but also Dragon Projectwhich may be the new franchise being developed by IO Interactive.
Project Dragon is described as an “RPG Shooter” that will be released for PC and Xbox Series X| S. So it looks like it will be an Xbox console exclusive.
The information now revealed fits nicely with what was previously whispered in the passages. After all, it looked out there that the new game from IO Interactive would be an ambitious fantasy RPG, with a large medieval world as the setting.
At the time, it was suggested that development be paid for by Xbox Game Studios, so of course an Xbox exclusive was in the clear, something that now seems to be confirmed by Microsoft docs.
