While King Philippe appeared in traditional military uniform, Mathilde chose a simple black dress. “The dress, with long sleeves, a flowing cut, and a pencil skirt made of blue satin fabric, manages to break its sober character through elegant, original details, and a large bow at the neckline of the dress. The Spanish press reported that her choice of clothing took us back to the forties and was the focus of the evening.
But the British press is also enthusiastic. “The bow on the dress makes a clear statement; she’s beautiful.” Plus, her silver earrings added to the perfection, the Daily Mail wrote. “The elegant royal teamed her dress with black heeled shoes, dazzling earrings and a black bag. She also chose an updo, with a parting at her side and swept from her face, which Queen A wore minus Lipstick and a touch of blush.”
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended the concert held on Tuesday evening at the Brussels Center for Fine Arts. Here the royal couple can enjoy classical music from the Chapel of the Royal Music Guides. Princess Elizabeth was not present at the event: the couple’s eldest daughter did not want to draw attention to the concert and wanted the celebration to focus on the hard work of her parents.
