filmAmazing movie news: There's a new “Star Trek” movie in development at Paramount. This news comes as the studio has been trying to bring the fourth Star Trek film to the big screen since 2016.
It was announced this week that Toby Haynes, known for his work on the “Star Wars” series “Andor,” will direct the new “Star Trek” film. JJ Abrams' Bad Robot, the film studio behind the previous films, is involved in the project as a producer. Abrams has previously produced three films that reboot the original “Star Trek” television series.
Although the story is currently being kept under wraps, the upcoming film will be an origin story set decades before 2009's first “Star Trek” film, which is likely why Chris Pine will never appear on the big screen again.
It is noteworthy that the production company has been announcing a sequel to the third and final film in the series since 2016. In February 2022, Abrams announced that filming would finally begin, but Chris Pine and the cast were reportedly unaware of this. Later, the fourth film was removed from the release schedule again.
