Maisie Williams became world famous for her starring in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. But the role of Arya Stark also had a huge impact on her mental well-being: the young actress said in an interview that she hated her body because of the popular role.
The 24-year-old actress was first seen in the popular series Game of Thrones in 2011. Until the end of the series, she played the boyish girl Arya Stark. During the course of filming, Maisie grew from a teenager into an adult woman, creating a complex relationship with her character, Arya.
“When I started becoming a woman myself, I hated Arya because I could no longer express myself,” she said in an interview with American men’s magazine GQ. “I hated my body then because it didn’t fit the picture I had in the whole world.”
The actress also has positive memories of the series. She says that she does not miss Game of Thrones at all, but is very grateful for the role. “I go back to that time with pride, but I don’t want to feel sad about the best thing that ever happened to me when I missed it.”
