The iPhone 16 Pro also gets a quad-prism camera

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a new camera that lets you zoom in further than ever before on an iPhone. According to rumours, the iPhone 16 Pro will soon also have this quad prism camera.

We still have some time to wait before the iPhone 16 Pro is released, but the first rumors are now starting to trickle in. According to the usually reliable Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo, the successor to the iPhone 15 Pro will get a nice camera upgrade. The iPhone 16 Pro takes over the camera task from the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have the best camera among all iPhones right now. Night mode is much better because it captures more light and detail in low-light photos. You can capture images in 48MP ProRAW, but you also have the option of HEIF. Also nice: thanks to the LiDAR scanner, you can now take selfies in night mode.

However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s camera is slightly better than the current Pro’s, because the Max has a new design (under the hood). Apple calls it “quad prism” and this gives you 5x optical zoom. The regular iPhone 15 Pro should “only” rely on 3x optical zoom.

The question remains, of course, whether the iPhone 16 Pro Max will soon have a better camera. If Apple keeps with the current trend and gives the Max version the best camera ever, there’s a good chance the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a better camera. Unfortunately, we still have to wait until September 2024 for the final answer and the next iPhone…
