Roadfour Ostend is located at the North Sea Aviation Center (NSAC). The Brussels startup wants to host the final assembly of its SEAGLE at the new location. An amphibious aircraft used to extinguish forest fires. “Parts for our aircraft come from different countries, but the point is that we’re going to eventually collect the fire extinguisher in one place, so we collect it,” says Roadfour’s Luc Stultjens.
“It is not yet certain that we will assemble the aircraft in Ostend. But now we want to investigate whether that is possible here in Ostend. That is why we are already there. We are also considering two other possible places in France.” Stultjens continues. “But as a Belgian start-up, we first want to explore our country’s assets as widely as possible. We want to know if we can find good partners here. Whether we receive a lot of support from the Flemish and federal government. And also whether we can do it well.” With companies that manufacture spare parts in their countries and supply them to us.
Suppose the company decides to stay in Ostend for the long term, that will be good for 450 jobs. At the beginning of next year, the decision will be made on whether the final assembly will be held in Ostend.
