The film continues to hand out awards for “Close” by Lukas Dhont (31). The recognition the film just received from the National Board of Review could be a boost to the upcoming Academy Awards.
At the National Board of Review Awards, the Belgian film was voted Best International Film. An important nod for Dhont, because films that do well are also consistently nominated for Academy Awards.

Faith was great in our country: Close It was chosen as our Belgian entry for the Academy Awards. We’ll soon know if the film will actually compete for the gold statue for Best International Feature Film. Lukas Dhont can also look forward to visiting New York. After all, all National Board of Review award recipients are celebrated with a ceremony in January.
Close It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix. After that, the film won many awards at all kinds of film festivals in Europe.
