The Swiss company Proton is best known for its secure mail service ProtonMail. With this, messages are sent encrypted, ensuring much higher privacy. The developers of the mail service have now released a new app for Android that allows you to keep track of your work schedule; Proton Calendar is an alternative to Google Calendar. Of course, there is another app where privacy and security (online) are of paramount importance.
Proton Calendar is a free calendar app that has been widely used in recent times tested† The app uses encryption where all details like agenda item name, participants and things like location are encrypted. You can choose from a light or dark theme, put a widget on your home screen and add multiple notification settings. In the Proton calendar, you can switch to the day or month view and to the agenda overview.
If you want to switch from the popular calendar app to Proton Calendar, it can be easy on yourself in various ways. You can manually load local calendar files (so-called .ics files) into the app. It is also possible to import an existing calendar into Proton Calendar. To do this, sign in with your ProtonMail account.
