Since developer Crystal Dynamics stopped supporting the failed superhero game Marvel’s Avengers, the California (US) studio has been busy making a new Tomb Raider game.
Rumor has it that this will not be a sequel to the recent reboot that ended with Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara will also once again have access to the iconic dual pistols from the classic games. However, nothing has been confirmed other than that a new Tomb Raider game is in development and will be published by Amazon.
Insider V Scooper now comes with a new rumor about a new Tomb Raider game. This insider often comes up with news about movies, but now he also has information about the Tomb Raider video game. The game will be completely open world. Previous games had open maps with linear sections such as graveyards or cinematic shootouts.
With the new Tomb Raider game, Crystal Dynamics is going completely open world, according to a V Scooper rumor. Since it’s an open world, Lara also has more tools at her disposal to explore the world, such as a motorcycle and an umbrella. The story is said to be set in India and revolves around a group called the Invaders Society. This is a group founded by Lara Croft, but everyone here has their own agenda.
“A natural disaster strikes northern India, revealing traces and relics of the ancient Emperor Ashoka. Lara competes strategically against a community of invaders and other rivals to obtain these powerful relics. The Invaders Association is inspired by Lara, but is not affiliated and may have some conflicting agendas. This also covers a new feature based on recruiting teams and allies to help you strategically in missions and defeat rivals. The focus is on a new, non-lethal combat option.”
According to the V Scooper website, the new Tomb Raider game will be officially revealed soon. Maybe during the next PlayStation or Xbox Showcase presentation. There’s also a chance Tomb Raider will appear during Summer Game Fest, an event that will also take place in early June.
