Amazon Studios has announced the name of its upcoming TV series, The Lord of The Rings. The series will be called The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The series will be released on Prime Video on September 2, 2022.
Amazon Studios announces the name of the series In a short teaser video, showing the flow of molten metal during the woman famous quote Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings, wrote: “Three rings for elven kings under heaven. Seven for dwarf princes in their stone halls. Nine for mortal men, doomed. One for Dark Lord On his dark throne in the land of Mordor, where shadows lie.” Next, the title of the series appears.
Authors J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay say: Statement to Variety. “The Rings of Power unite all the major stories of the second age of Middle-earth; the formation of the Rings, the rise of Sauron, the story of the Nemenor saga, and the ultimate alliance of elves and humans.”
The Rings of Power takes place thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and the original The Lord of The Rings trilogy, according to Amazon. The series begins “in a time of relative peace” and follows “a group of familiar and new characters” as they confront the rise of evil in Middle-earth, as the teaser video describes. The series will be available on Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
